Creating the abstract designs in this series of projects will force us to examine some foundational modeling techniques. We’ll look at ways to create and modify geometry as the basis of our designs.
Lighting & Rendering
Learn to create beautiful renders as we deep dive into procedural shading, lighting, and rendering. We will start simple and work towards more complex scenes. The goal is to unlock our creativity once we understand the tools.
Seemingly simple animations, like an infinite loop, can be difficult to achieve without knowing the right steps. In this course, you’ll look at techniques for achieving loops. We’ll also look at how an infinite loop can be achieved without too much geometry.

What you'll learn
This project-based course will teach you the tools while showing you how to achieve the designs. Nathan's approach to teaching is to focus on the design, and let the tools support that vision.
You will learn basic modeling techniques to create and modify geometry specific to these projects. We’ll look at various techniques to mask geometry in a procedural manner creating exciting and flexible control over our design forms.
Learn to animate an infinite loop in our first project. Pick up tons of useful techniques that can be applied to other projects. Finding clever and seamless ways to loop an animation is a useful skill.
Learn a series of modeling and distortion techniques that will help us create unique and abstract geometry. We’ll do it in a way that is non-destructive so we keep control over our scene.
Learn to leverage the power of high dynamic range images to set a foundation for lighting a scene. We’ll look at techniques to work with HDRI’s to light our scenes.
Learn to create textures that are beautiful and unique, while maintaining the ability to customize your shader. Mastering the art of shaders in Blender 3D is a big part of this course.
Learn to create atmosphere and scale in your scene. Learn to leverage volumetric light and create stunning abstract images. The biggest emphasis of this course is on using the tools in Blender 3D to create beautiful visual work.
