Mo-Graph Mentor

{Student Work} Class 02 : Joshua Court : Infographics

Information is everywhere. The marriage between art and data grows stronger everyday.

It is a common task for Motion Designers to start from the raw data points of many subjects and create visual communication that is beautiful and clear.

In class 2 of the program, we put this challenge to our students.

Start from basic, raw information, and end up with a series of animations that give this information in a beautiful and understandable way.

They create an overall creative direction, a visual style and animations.

This project from Class 2 student, Joshua Court, communicates about the confusing and expensive, UK National Rail Industry.

His mentor was Steve Savalle.

We’d like to share his development with and applaud the quality of his process in creating the final.

Some words from Joshua about this project.

“When faced with data that is complex and at times banal, it proves a challenging task to transform this data in a visually interesting way.

I saw my Infographics project as a platform to practice said desirable skill. I began by seeking out suitable data from a funded research project.

To avoid over-compensating with the design, I decided to keep it as simple as possible to transform the complexity of the data into a form that is accessible and informative for a wider audience.”
