Mo-Graph Mentor

{Student Work} Victor Silva : Motion Identity

(This is student work, not work that was commissioned by the brand.)

One of the Class 02 projects is the Motion Identity assignment. This project is a favorite of mine because it’s SO applicable to real-world mograph jobs. I’ve watched Michael do countless freelance jobs over the past 6 years and some of the ones that stand out to me are the motion identity jobs for some of his clients. This one for Asana comes to mind.

The Motion Identity assignment focuses on crafting a package of animated elements. The main emphasis is to create a highly polished art direction, while maintaining a cohesive style across elements. The goal is to build elements that the entity could use within their larger communications strategy.

Today we’re sharing Victor’s student work. He loves music, so he chose to use the brand Shaking Through: a documentary series about the process of recording music.

{Student Work} Kyle Predki : A Nice Cup of Tea

Class 01: Intro to Design & Animation has 3 projects. One of the projects is the Visual Essay assignment. Here students produce a 30-45 sec short film from concept to completion.

Today we’re sharing Kyle Predki’s Visual Essay. He used English author, George Orwell’s essay: A Nice Cup of Tea for this piece. Kyle received a Vimeo Staff Pick on this video which is so awesome!

As any great project begins, Kyle first started with a word list and mood board, then dove into the storyboard process.

{Student Work} Diego Chavez : Missed Connection : Visual Essay

We’ve been sharing more student work this past week and the feedback we’ve been getting from people online has been so awesome; awesome for the MM staff, and really awesome for the featured student. Thanks to everyone who supports us over here at Mograph Mentor…you rock!

When I (Paige) was browsing student work in the dropbox, I came across Diego’s Visual Essay. I immediately fell in love with his artistic direction, and the missed connection concept was really unique. It drew me in right from the start which is exactly what this assignment is supposed to do.

{Student Work} : Wolfram Friele : Motion Identity Package : Class 02

(This is student work, not work that was commissioned by the brand).

Here at Mograph Mentor the students learn by doing. We are a project-based online school and in each class, our students get to create pieces that mirror real-world mograph jobs. One of the projects in Class 02 is the Motion Identity project. This assignment is focused on crafting a package of animated elements. The main emphasis is to create a highly polished art direction, while maintaining a cohesive style across elements.

Students start with a real world brand or institution, and create a number of elements that could be used. The goal is to build 4 elements that the entity could use within their larger communications strategy.

Today we’re sharing Wolfram’s final deliverables. He chose the brand Shuffler TV for his spec package. Great job Wolfram!

{Student Work} Gaurang Dhebar : Class 01 : Design For A Theme

One of the 3 projects in Class 01 is “Designing For a Theme”

In this project students have the opportunity to explore the process of creating visual imagery. Having the constraint of a theme forces them to engage in the process of creative problem solving. This assignment focuses on form, color, texture and typography.

Today I want to share Gaurang’s imagery. For his project he chose the subject “LIFE”.

“My life stands on 4 pillars. L : Love, I : Inspire, F  : Fearless & E : Education.”

For this theme, Gaurang painted in Photoshop to create these posters and the results are beautiful!
